Rochester, MN

May 8-10, 2023

In early May, I traveled up to the midwest for the first time for two events in Rochester, Minnesota and Sioux City, Iowa. We partnered with one of our distributors to host the road show trailer for one of their new site grand openings. I stayed right near the famous Mayo Clinic in Rochester but also had the opportunity to explore around Minneapolis as well. My favorite thing about Minnesota is the fact that there’s a Caribou Coffee on every corner, and I made sure to stop for a drink every time.

Key Takeaway: At our Rochester event, I had very fruitful conversations with the local sales team and field applications engineers. One of them said to me, “marketing is about how you keep the customer’s mind on you”, which stuck with me. I found it to be a great little piece of advice when trying to narrow down the main purpose of what marketing, and traveling the country with this road show trailer, really is.

Favorite Food: I did not realize that cheeseburgers were such a big midwestern thing, and cheeseburgers do happen to be my all-time favorite food. I had an awesome burger and the “Jam on Both Sides” local Pilsner from Red Cow right by the Mayo Clinic.

Highlight: I did get to knock off a bucket list item on this trip by visiting the Mall of America!! While I didn’t ride any of the roller coasters, I walked through the Aquarium (yes, inside the mall) and rode on the Fly Over America ride (similar to the Soarin’ ride at Disney). While I did happen to be the sole rider on Fly Over America, it created a funny memory for me and the workers as I was escorted through the entire ride as the only person there.
