Week 1: Boise, ID & Spokane, WA

August 20-24, 2023

This week kicked off the very first week of the 2023 #PowerBetter fall road show tour! My job throughout this rotation is to manage all planning and execution of the road show events in all 14 of our sales districts within 14 weeks this fall. This means there will be a lot of travel and hard work, but also a lot of exploration, lessons, and fun.

For the first week of the tour, we started out in the Northwest district having events in Boise, Idaho and Spokane, Washington. Both of these cities had such a beautiful landscape surrounding them, and were such cute towns to walk around and explore.

Key Takeaway: People appreciate the efforts you put into relationships with them. We unfortunately had some poor weather during one of our events, hindering the attendance we were hoping for. However, those that did come were so appreciative that we showed out and showed up, even through flash flood warnings, leftover Hurricane Hillary rain, and nearby forest fires. It was absolutely still worth the efforts, as we were able to work with key customers and build up stronger connections.

Favorite Food: On the Basque Block in downtown Boise, I ate at a cute little Basque restaurant called Leku Ona. I had the seafood stew with clams, scallops, shrimp, mussels, and codfish. It was very delicious and I’m glad I got the chance to indulge in the local Basque culture.

Highlights: Throughout the week, I had so many highlights that made me really enjoy this region of the US and this trip. Boise is a very cool city to walk around in, and even has a Basque Block, a street filled with Basque restaurants, pubs, markets, and even a museum. This whole area was very special to me as my grandfather was Basque and very proud of this special culture, as am I. I also ventured outside the city to the Kirkham hot springs in the Boise National Forest, passing Uncle Giuseppe’s Italian sandwich shop on the way. While in Spokane, I drove to the Beaver Bay Beach at Farragut State Park and hiked around there for a bit. On the way back, I stopped in the beautiful town Couer d’Alene to watch the sunset and enjoy the local farmers market and live music event that were going on.
