Week 4: Albuquerque, NM & El Paso, TX

September 5-11, 2023

For week 4 of the #PowerBetter road show tour, I worked with the Mountain district to plan and execute their events in Albuquerque, New Mexico and El Paso, Texas.

Key Takeaway: For the past three weeks of the road show, we’ve had an ELIP (ABB Electrification Installation Products) Sales Application Engineer partner with us and display his products near the trailer. After spending a few weeks together at the events, I felt like I learned a lot from him about our products and received some helpful personal/career advice as well. The Installation Product line is one that’s an easier concept to understand, and by the end of the three weeks I could name most of the products on the display and explain what they do. I’m glad I had the opportunity to learn so much about a different product line I’m not directly involved with and am appreciative of the time he took to share some of his knowledge and guidance with me.

Favorite Food: New Mexico is most known for their green chiles that are locally grown in Hatch, just south of Albuquerque. In New Mexico and even in El Paso, it seemed like there were green chiles on EVERYTHING, and they were very good. Apparently, if you go to a McDonald’s in the area, they even put a green Chile spread on their burgers there. While in El Paso, I had the Enchiladas Banderas with the green Chile sauce, and that was definitely my favorite meal of the week.

Highlights: This week, I spent more time in Albuquerque which is a neat little town with a beautiful surrounding landscape. On my first day there, I road the Sandia Peak Tramway 10,000 feet up the Sandia Mountains, where you can hike around and enjoy the views at the top. The next day, we drove by the iconic Walter White’s house located in Albuquerque, where filming for the Breaking Bad series took place.
