Week 9: Syracuse &Clifton Park, NY
October 17-20, 2023
For week 9 of the #PowerBetter road show tour, I worked with the Northeast district to plan and execute their events in Syracuse and Clifton Park, New York.
Key Takeaway: This week I learned that I shouldn’t always make early assumptions about people or events. There was a lot of unique planning that went into this event that I was unsure of at first, but it certainly seemed to pay off. This was our biggest event so far, bringing in over 100 customers to visit the #PowerBetter trailer. Challenges can be intimidating at first, but they can turn out to be huge successes.
Favorite Food: My favorite meal that I had this week was another one suggested to me by recommendation, so thank you to my Uncle Rich and my cousin Molly for this one. A few work friends and I ate at the restaurant Pastabilities in downtown Syracuse, where the ambiance is fun and swanky with a live jazz band playing inside. The restaurant is well-known for their spicy hot tomato oil, which Guy Fieri himself has visited the restaurant for. I got the angel hair pasta with the spicy hot tomato oil (aka Hot Tom) and meatballs. It was delicious, and I’ve already started looking up how to order the Hot Tom online.
Highlights: I stayed right in downtown Syracuse, which was a really cute town with lots of pretty restaurants, stores, and coffee shops. I spent some time one morning walking around and checking things out, and found a really cool shop that sold handmade items from various artists in the area. I bought some jewelry and pins from the store, so I’m glad I stumbled upon it. I also just had a fun week overall as there were so many of my friends in the rotational program, or those who have gradated from it, at the events this week. I always love getting to hang out with my friends while working the event and getting to explore their region of the country.
